Photography #35 Interesting Shapes

One of my favourite places and things in the world to photograph is Spaceship Earth at Epcot. If you don't know what that is, it's the big sphere that resembles a golf-ball at arguably Disneyworld's least known park. I just love how it's made up from lots of little 3d triangles and there are so many angles that you can get interesting pictures from, especially when it's lit up at night.

Autumn is here!

I'm not really a huge fan of Autumn. I always joke that October is the most irrelevant month of the year- it was always when the hard work started in the academic year and the only good thing about it is Halloween and you have to wait the whole month for that! (Plus, my mum was never in to the whole fun Halloween dress up and trick or treating thing so I've never really got that excited for it anyway).

Despite the clear bright blue skies over my town, it's quite clear that Autumn has now arrived.

I've just put away all my thin summer cardigans and got out my thick woollen cardigans and my winter coat.

The flip flops are away and the ugg boots are out (my feet are already blistered from having to wear proper shoes again).

The seaside smelling candles are finished with and the 'Wild Fig' yankee candle is placed and ready to go.

I do love all the Autumn colours, especially when they are just establishing themselves next to all the bright colours of summer. My garden was looking super pretty today and I just couldn't resist taking the camera out and capturing some of the colours coming through.

Do you like Autumn? What's your favourite part of the season?

Moments Captured by my Phone

As Autumn is starting to kick in, I thought I'd give a quick review of summer as captured by my no-so-great phone camera.

We went for a walk over the hills on a warmer Saturday evening and I couldn't resist doing the typical (ex) gymnast handstand picture.

My Nan and Grandad took myself and my Mum out for lunch at a little farm shop tea room. They had been before and said the cake there was amazing but when we went we were too early for the fresh cake to have been made so we had cream tea instead. How fabulously British.

This was a while ago at the start of July but I wanted to include it to prove that we did have some warm weather this year! On the hottest day of the year I had an hours break from work so I walked to the local park to eat lunch and found an ice cream van in the process! It was nice to feel like a kid again and deal with the drippy mess of a melting Flake 99.

Selfies with my sister and Alyssa and Sierra when they came to visit in August.

The ceiling of the bouncy castle at Emilys Christening collapsed while me, Ben and Sophie were on it but we didn't let that stop the fun.

A new coffee shop has opened in my town and I can thoroughly recommend the vanilla milkshakes. There were so many other things there that I want to try so I'm going to have to schedule another visit!

As you can see, I don't really take that many photos on my phone. Hopefully I'll have enough to be able to do an Autumn review because I quite enjoyed looking back at the little moments of summer :)

Photography #43 Whale Jumping out of Water

I'm slowly but surely working through my photography bucket list! I've been neglecting it a bit recently and when I found the list the other day I realised a had a few pictures which fitted in with the themes on the list.

These photos were taken at Seaworld Orlando in August 2014 with my D3100 and the 55-200 mm lense. I love the first picture as it's at the perfect angle and a bit different to the usual whale/dolphin pictures that you see. I feel like the droplets of water make the picture a bit more exciting too :)

And here's the typical whale jumping picture! Not quite Cape Cod or warm Caribbean waters as a nice backdrop though :(

A Throwback...Barcelona Photos

Back in April 2013 I went to Barcelona as part of a degree-related field trip, and I've just found a bunch of photos that I took. I loved the city so much and would love to go there again without the pressures of having to complete coursework whilst there, and to be able to take my DSLR camera (it just wasn't practical to lug a huge camera around whilst doing work). It was also fun to explore a new city, travel with friends and navigate around unfamiliar places and cultures without relying on my parents.
Las Ramblas- we came here again on St Georges Day and it was so crowded. St George is also the patron saint of Catalonia and it was weird to see such big celebrations for the day in comparison to in England.

The biggest strawberries in the world! At the indoor market on Las Ramblas. There was so much fresh fruit there to buy.

The view of the port from Montjuic Castle.

The Sagrada Familia viewed from Montjuic. I never actually got to get up close to it thanks to coursework and an early flight home.

The 1992 Olympics torch outside the Olympic Stadium.

It was so cool to just be able to walk into the Olympic Stadium. My dissertation included the Barcelona Olympics so I loved being able to be there and see it for myself.

Love this view!

The view from the war bunkers behind the city. Montjuic, where many of my other photos are from, is the hill on the right of the picture.

The harbour. It was such a peaceful area to walk along and thankfully not too far away from the hostel where we stayed.

The famous W Hotel that stands out on the skyline.

On the last day we all realised we had budgeted well and had a bit of money left over, so we went to an American diner for lunch and treated ourselves to big American style milkshakes.

So there you go! Have you ever been to Barcelona? Which is your favourite picture?

September Favourites

There are a few products that I am loving this month!

Real Techniques Travel Essentials- I have to admit that this is the first time buying make-up brushes for myself (others have always been gifts) and I'm not disappointed at all. I love the even cover the powder brush gives compared to my old one. These were some of the most expensive brushes in Superdrug (£20.99), but I'm glad I picked them and decided to spend that little extra money on quality rather than going for something cheaper.

OPI Nail Lacquer in I'm Indi-a Mood for Love- I've really been slacking on taking care of my nails as I've been getting bored of using the same few colours over and over again. OPI is my favourite brand of nail polish as it's so easy to apply and the finish is so great. We've been having some slightly warmer weather for September in the UK recently so this colour seems perfect to match the last of the summery weather that we'll get this year.

Strawberry Shortcake Yankee Candle- I always find myself picking out sweet smelling yankee candles and this one is no exception! The scent can be a little overpowering when you first open the lid, but once it's lit the smell around the room is gorgeous. These ones are £9 from Tesco, but I picked this one up in a 2 for £15 offer (the other one I chose was Vanilla Frosting).

Deep Action Pore Cleansing Pads- I picked these up on sale at Superdrug for only £1.29 which I figured was a great value to try something new. I'm really pleased with these- I hadn't told anyone that I was using them but people noticed that my skin looked healthier within days of starting to use them. I have tried more expensive Clearasil ones but I find the smell of those too overpowering so I think I'll be sticking with this brand for the time being.

Champneys Citrus Blush Body Lotion and Hand Cream- I found these products as I was tidying my room the other day (whoops, they were a Christmas present). I use the body lotion after a shower and I love how soft it makes my skin feel. As a gymnastics coach, I find my hands get really dry from being around chalk all the time so the hand cream is something that works wonders and something I get a lot of use out of. These are the first Champneys products I have used and I'll definitely be using them more in the future (oooh I've just noticed they are on sale at Boots, they're on my shopping list now).

Have you ever used any of these products? What are your current favourites?

Tell Me Something Tag

I saw this tag over on Renee's blog and thought I'd give it a go

1) What is your favourite item of clothing?
Hmmm, at the moment I'm loving my cream oversized woolen cardigan from Primark- it's so snuggly and is perfect for Autumn!

2) What are your biggest obsessions?
Nike trainers and t shirts. I can reason with myself about the tshirts because I wear them at work, but everytime I go to the Nike outlet I want to buy myself a new pair of trainers and I just don't need them. I have been doing better though and I haven't had a new pair since my Birthday in January.

3) Who inspires you?
Career wise, the lead coach of my gym club is pretty inspiring and I look up to her as I grow and learn as a coach. Other than that, nothing comes to mind but I'm sure there's other people that I get moments of inspiration from.

4) Who is your favourite designer and why?
Designer? I don't have a clue. I don't really get many designer clothes but I do own a few things from Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein (the outlet shops, might I add...)

5) What is your favourite song ever?
Livin on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. I have lots of happy memories with that song.

6) What is your favourite song right now?
Right now I'm loving 'Fight Song' by Rachel Platten.

7) If you were a sweet treat, what would you be?
I have no idea what I'd be, but anything with Cadbury's chocolate is my favourite so does that count?

8) What colours would describe your rainbow?
I don't even understand this question.

9) What is your favourite film?
Bridesmaids- I watched it for the first time just after I'd been asked to be a bridesmaid at my cousins wedding and we had many moments referencing it in the build up to the wedding, and it still never fails to make me laugh even now. Quick tip- its even funnier with subtitles on.
We watched Bridesmaids many times in the lead up to being a Bridesmaid.

10) Who is your favourite actor?
I've never really thought about a favourite actor as I'm not a huge fan of films.

11) If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Florida maybe? It's always warm, and is guaranteed to make me happy :)

12) What are your 3 favourite smells?
Vanilla, coconut (reminds me of summer) and the seaside.

13) What are your 3 favourite tastes?
Cadburys Chocolate, melted cheese (pizza, pasta, cheese on toast etc) and vanilla frozen yoghurt with a spoonful of nutella.

14) What is your most treasured possession?
I guess the typical thing to say would be my Degree certificate as I had to work so hard for it, but I don't particularly treasure it as such- I treasure the uni experience and the feeling of achievement more than a piece of paper. Maybe my Pandora Bracelet? I've collected charms on it for a while and all of the charms have a story behind them.

15) What did you always want to be when you grew up?
An artist or a vet. Which is completely laughable now because I am completely pathetic at art and anything science-y and always have been.

16) If you were an ice cream, what flavour would you be?
Again, I don't know what flavour I'd be but my favourite flavour is Cookies and Cream- or strawberry and cake batter with marshmallows and oreos in from Coldstones.

17) If someone made a short film of your life, who would play you?
Who knows? Maybe someone like Taylor Swift as she's one of my favourite people and is nice and awkward like me :P There'd be a slight difference in accents though...

18) What would your perfect afternoon consist of?
Just taking it easy around Disneyworld with my family- maybe exploring Magic Kingdom and fastpassing all the rides then shopping at all the shops down Main Street with an unlimited budget. The day would have to finish with fireworks!

Loving life and finding my inner child in Disneyworld last year! I finally gave in and bought the Minnie ears after 5 trips!

19) If you were a flower, what would you be?
I've always been told red is a good colour on me, so maybe a red rose? Although I'm not romantic in the slightest.

20) Tell me any random fact about yourself
I learned to speak Japanese for 7 years at school (I got an A Level in it). I've forgotton quite a lot of it now but I can still string a few sentences together and read their basic alphabets.

I'll leave this as an open tag, so let me know if you do it and leave your links below so I can check them out :)

Scrapbooking | The Emily Book

I can finally reveal the special craft project that I've been hinting about! The Emily Book. I've been scrapbooking a bunch of photos into an album for my niece as her Christening present and I love the final outcome.

Jersey Boys inspired- Who loves you pretty baby?

I got the idea for this one on pinterest.

Here come the sun little darling- Beatles inspired.

Lyrics from 'Never grow up' by Taylor Swift.

Mini Minnie! She stole my Minnie Mouse ears!

Which is your favourite layout? I can't decide between about 4 of them!
