A Weekend In Liverpool

At the end of March, I spent the weekend in Liverpool. Being a lifelong Manchester United fan, those are words I never thought I'd type. As you can imagine, I needed a very good reason to go to Liverpool- my reason was that I was going to watch the 2015 British Gymnastics Championships. The gym that I work at organises a trip to watch this event every year but this is the first year I've been able to attend and I enjoyed all the gymnastical fun it had to offer!

Photos courtesy of my trusty iPad...not the best quality unfortunately.

We stayed at the Premier Inn Albert Docks and this was the view from the room! An ideal location for access to the Echo Arena and being able to pop back to the room for food and phone charging situations between the sessions. We also held a group meal for 30 at the hotel and the staff were fantastic. It was also pretty cool to see some of the gymnasts and coaches in the restaurant and bar after the competition.

The Championships is becoming a more fan friendly event each year, with numerous things to keep the audience entertained before the sessions start and during warm ups. It was pretty cool. I mean, have you ever seen a gymnastics competition with strobe lights, smoke machines and fire cannons? I sure hadn't. There was an audience selfie competition and I'm disappointed to report that this beautiful picture above didn't win the prize. Oh well, there's always next year.
